TradingView Dark Mode: How to Turn On the Dark Theme on Web, Desktop and Mobile
TradingView ships with its own dark theme, so you don't need anything extra for the charts. Here's where the switch lives on each platform, and how to make the rest of your trading tabs match.

Does TradingView have a dark mode?
Yes. TradingView dark mode is a native feature, and TradingView calls it the Dark theme. According to TradingView's support page, you can choose a light or dark look for both the charts and the interface, and the switch sits in the pull-down menu behind the upper button on the left of the chart screen. How to turn on dark mode in the TradingView desktop app and mobile app
TradingView documents a separate path for each app:

- iPhone, iPad and Android: open the Menu screen from the bottom toolbar, tap the gear icon in the top-right corner, tap Theme and select Dark.
Because the desktop app follows your operating system out of the box, it can switch with macOS Auto appearance during the day. If you'd rather keep the charts dark around the clock, pick Dark explicitly so a light system theme doesn't flip it back.
How to enable TradingView dark mode on the website
These steps switch the built-in Dark theme on tradingview.com in Chrome or any other browser.

Open a chart
Go to tradingview.com and open any chart, for example by searching a symbol and opening its full chart. The theme switch lives in the chart screen's menu.

Click the top-left menu button
Click the button in the upper-left corner of the chart screen (it shows your profile picture when you're signed in). A pull-down menu opens.

Move the Dark theme slider
Find the Dark theme toggle in that menu and switch it on. If TradingView asks you to confirm the change, confirm it, and the interface and chart turn dark.

Check your indicator and drawing colors
Lines and drawings you colored for a white background, such as black or navy, can be hard to see on dark. Open the settings of each affected indicator or drawing and pick a lighter color.

What does TradingView's dark theme not cover?
The native theme is the right tool for the charts, because chart colors carry meaning: green and red candles, indicator bands, alert lines. Let TradingView draw those itself. The Dark Mode extension is for everything around it:
- Other sites. Broker portals, exchange dashboards, economic calendars, news articles and Google Docs or Sheets trading journals rarely have a dark theme of their own. The extension darkens any regular web page.
- Fine control. TradingView gives you light or dark. The extension adds Brightness, Contrast, Sepia and Grayscale sliders, so a white research page can be dimmed to exactly the level you want at night.
- A schedule. The extension can switch itself on during active hours you set, after sunset at your location, or whenever your operating system is in dark mode.
- Pages that stay light. If you come across a page on any site that stays bright, the per-site button ("Change mode on current site") darkens just that site.
Once TradingView is on its Dark theme, add tradingview.com to the extension's site list in "Not invert listed" mode so the extension leaves it alone and doesn't restyle a page that's already dark.
Other ways to get a dark TradingView
- Chrome's dark theme. Choosing dark under Settings → Appearance darkens only the browser frame: tabs, toolbar and menus. It doesn't switch TradingView's theme; you still need the slider in TradingView's menu.
- Chrome's "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" flag. This experimental setting at
chrome://flagsforces dark colors on every website. It's all or nothing, with no per-site list or sliders, it can recolor chart elements in odd ways, and it may change in future Chrome versions. - Your operating system's dark mode. Windows and macOS dark mode affects the TradingView desktop app, which follows the system theme by default. The website doesn't use it; switch the theme in TradingView's menu instead.
TradingView dark mode not working? Quick fixes
- The desktop app keeps going light. It's following your system theme. Open the app's Settings and choose Dark instead of Use system theme.
- An indicator disappeared after switching. It's probably still there, just drawn in a dark color. Open the indicator's settings and change the line color.
- Charts look strange or inverted. A browser-wide tool may be restyling a page that's already dark. Exclude tradingview.com in the Dark Mode extension's site list (Alt+Shift+A toggles the current site) or turn off the Chrome flag.
- The phone app is still light. The mobile theme is a separate setting: Menu, gear icon, Theme, Dark.
How to turn off TradingView dark mode
On the website, click the top-left menu button on a chart and move the Dark theme slider back to off. In the desktop app, choose Light (or Use system theme) in Settings or in the three-dot menu. On iOS and Android, go to Menu, tap the gear icon, then Theme and Light. If you also use the Dark Mode extension, press Alt+Shift+D or flip its On/Off switch to turn it off everywhere.
