Dark Mode is built and maintained by Captain Software Limited, a small independent studio that has been making browser extensions and lightweight apps since 2017.
Most of the web is still designed for a bright white screen. That is fine at noon, but not at midnight, in a dark office or after eight hours of documents and email. Chrome's own dark theme only changes the browser frame, so the pages themselves stay glaring.
We built Dark Mode to fix exactly that: one switch that gives any website a readable dark theme, plus the controls people actually ask for — brightness, contrast, sepia, a per-site list and a schedule that turns night mode on by itself.
The extension is free, and Pro is optional for people who want to support its development. The product and the guides on this site are led by Ivan Charad, product lead of Dark Mode.

The extension weighs well under a megabyte and does one job. No accounts, no sign-up, nothing to configure before it works.
Every site can be excluded with one hotkey, and every setting can be tuned per site — the extension adapts to you, not the other way round.
All core features are free. Pro costs $3 a month or $20 once, with a 20-day money-back guarantee.
